Are surveillance and 'omics' profiling studies being overhyped, and eating up the limited funding for scientific research?
These day, there has been a considerable increase in publications reporting some sort of genomics/transcriptomics/metagenomics profiling. While these 'omics' tools are quite useful, many researchers simply adopt them as they guarantee some 'data' output, irrespective of sample type. A protein's sequence contains its intrinsic properties as a code. Nobel laureate scientist, C. B. Anfinsen proved it through experiments. Unlike sequence, since structures are man-made and obtained under different laboratory conditions, they may contain human error. For respiratory viruses, should folks wear masks in public a) always, b) if they are or may be infected, or c) if they are afraid of getting infected? Are masks a) protection, or b) social signals?
Since 2020, the public has thought of masks as having a protective purpose, and many rebel at the inconvenience, rationalizing that “they do a poor job of protecting.” Is the current epidemic a good opportunity for government and medicine to teach the folks about the more important virtues of using masks to convey information?

Can Levodopa and Renin-angiotensin system alter the intercellular tight junction (TJ) proteins in the epithelial cells in colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (in vitro)?
Colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (Caco-2) express tight junctions from 17-21 days. Levodopa is the precursor of dopamine, a well-known neurotransmitter, owever it also porduce effect in the gut. The renin-angiotensin system is responsible for maintaining homeostais and regulate blood pressure and volume.
