What threshold of urinary cadmium (Cd-U) is currently considered indicative of early renal tubular dysfunction in exposed adult populations?
I am conducting a study on chronic environmental cadmium exposure and its nephrotoxic effects, particularly focusing on early biomarkers of renal tubular damage. Several sources suggest 2 µg/g creatinine as a reference point, but variability exists depending on population, sex, and co-exposure. Could experts clarify which threshold (e.g. 1 µg/g, 2 µg/g, or 5 µg/g creatinine) is most reliable or currently used in risk assessments and clinical practice?

Does the anti-aging gene Sirtuin 1 need to be measured in early disease screening in COVID-19 and AIDS patients?
The defective gene in the global chronic disease epidemic has now been linked to the anti-aging gene Sirtuin 1. Sirtuin 1 is now an important gene for consideration in Frontiers and Genetics. Nutritional regulation of Sirtuin 1 is critical to nuclear receptors/transcription factors that are involved with glucose homeostasis, immune system, body temperature regulation, stem cell therapy and mitochondrial biogenesis. Plasma Sirtuin 1 levels may be of critical interest to COVID-19, AIDS and the...

As an editor for peer-reviewed journal, what would you consider appropriate in making a decision to accept a peer-reviewer's report?
When evaluating a peer-reviewed study on surface water resources used for a commercial water operation, it is expected that the reviewer will thoroughly assess the methodology, including water sampling procedures and data analysis. In addition, the reviewer should identify potential oversights and suggest necessary improvements or alternative methods. However, when an expert reviewer raises concerns, and the authors respond with contrary submissions supported by well-detailed references, how...
