Exposure Reconstruction and Dose-Response Assessment for Inhalation Exposures to Hexavalent Chromium

Science Guidance and Peer Review Panel

SciPinion is seeking experts in occupational exposure reconstruction, epidemiology dose-response assessment, and risk assessment to serve as members of a science guidance/peer review panel for a project on hexavalent chromium. This expert panel work will be conducted in two phases: (1) review of protocol documents; and (2) review of results. The panel will consist of both compensated (n=6) and voluntary positions (n=3-6; e.g., for government scientists unable to take compensation).

Compensation: estimated ~$5000 USD per paid reviewer (~$2500 for participation in each of 2 phases; not applicable for voluntary panelists)
Panel Composition

Occupational exposure reconstruction experts;
Epidemiology dose-response modeling experts;
Cancer risk assessment and regulatory experts with strong experience in California (e.g., OEHHA, Cal OSHA)

Number of reviewers: ~9-12
Recruitment Period: Present - 11/20/27
Review Format:
- Multiple rounds (modified Delphi format): review & answer charge questions; answer any clarifying questions submitted by the client; review answers from all panel members and revisit answers.

Work Description:
- Review of protocol documents and project reports material that encompasses ~50 pages of text and tables (with any and all studies available upon request)
- Answer ~10-20 charge questions

Level of Effort:
- ~12-16 hours for Phase 1 (science guidance protocol review), ~12-16 hours for Phase 2 (peer review of study results); time spread out over the review period at reviewer's discretions
Review Period:
- Phase 1: approximate date range, 12/14/20 - 1/30/21
- Phase 2: approximate date range, 5/1/21 - 6/15/21
Travel:
- None (all interaction conducted online)
