SciPinion is recruiting experts in epidemiology, exposure assessment, pediatric medicine, public health, and risk assessment to serve on an expert peer review panel to help peer review the science relating exposures to environmental contaminants and the relation with health (including birth and neurodevelopmental) outcomes. This opportunity will require expertise in:
- Understanding dispersion of contaminants from point sources and the techniques used to predict exposures to nearby populations
- Interpretation and application of data for biomarkers of exposure (blood, urine measurements)
- Developmental toxicology, epidemiology or medicine and the approaches used to measure birth outcomes, or
- Biostatistics and knowledge of appropriate statistical tests for assessing relations between gradients of exposures and birth outcome measures.
Not all experts need to possess expertise in all of these niche topics, but must demonstrate expertise in at least one.
The specifics of this project are:
- Blinding
- Double blinded during peer review panel recruitment, selection and engagement
- Experts identity will be disclosed in a report of the findings and possibly in a manuscript
- Work assignment
- Critically review one published manuscript (additional assignments for additional compensation are possible)
- Identify primary strengths and weaknesses
- Rapid-response: all work will need to be completed within an approximate 2-week window
- Time requirement
- We anticipate experts will require 6-8 hours or less to review a manuscript
- Compensation
- $1000 for each assigned publication
- Schedule
- Expected start date: February 15, 2022
- All work must be completed by March 1, 2022
- Number of panelists
- Up to 24 topic experts
