I have worked with Kathleen McDonough and Jennifer Menzies in a professional capacity in the past, and my group has performed some of the research used in their paper. However, the work we performed that is included in the Menzies et al. manuscript was performed based on a commercial contract between the Sponsor and the company I work for (a CRO). My company has no conflict of interest with respect to how the results of this work are presented; the work has been paid for according to the contract we established at the time of accepting the project, and publication of the work has no commercial benefits for my company. Also, I am not a co-author of the Menzies et al. manuscript and therefore I have no benefit with respect to when and how the manuscript is published. I was not involved in drafting or proof-reading the manuscript and am therefore able to review the manuscript with complete impartiality. Furthermore, the main topic of the charge questions was the paper by Rolsky and Kelkar, where I have no conflict of interest at all.
