It is difficult not to see issues with current AI applications. Examples of problems are highlighted weekly. However, I think that as a tool to help researchers, if monitored carefully, AI will prove itself useful in the future.

I feel that like any other tool, AI can be as good as it's user. Now preparing the users to make the most of AI is not taking place in a structured way. There is no way to know or control how it is being used. Hence, future generations can lose originality, be dependent on external tools, and unable to contribute to new knowledge.

My views are absolutely shaped by my own experience as well as what I'm seeing is happening to my students and colleagues. I'm also shaped by peer reivewed articles on the topic and in learning about how my colleagues use AI.

My perspective is shaped by both direct experience using AI tools in research and by broader scientific discussions regarding ethics, data quality, reproducibility, and regulatory considerations. Hands-on use has informed my understanding of its practical benefits, while external discourse has highlighted important limitations and governance concerns.

My hands-on experience informs my practical assessment of AI's capabilities and limitations, but conversations with colleagues and the broader scientific discourse help me understand systemic implications, emerging risks, and best practices I wouldn't discover through solo use.

An interaction between how I use it and everything that is shown on social media. AI is advancing at an impressive pace and will be a key tool used in research.
